What is a Doula?

  • A birth doula is a woman who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during, and immediately after birth in a non-medical capacity.
  • A postpartum doula helps a family make a smooth transition into parenthood by providing assistance with newborn care, breastfeeding, household duties, and valuable emotional support during the postpartum period.
  • A doula informs, but does not impose. She does not take the place of a birth partner. She supports and respects her clients’ choices, while providing evidence-based information and care.

About

That’s me…Nakami! Founder of Blest Doula Services.

I’m here to assist women in recognizing and embracing their God-given power to bring new life into this world. The excitement of childbirth can sometimes take a backseat to fear of the unknown, or even feeling unsupported in advocating for the birth you want. As someone who has had three very different birth experiences, I understand both the joys and anxieties that accompany this completely new period in your life (even if you’ve given birth before). My passion has always been to serve others, either in my home, in the military, or in my community.

Along with being a doula, I’m also a Wife, Mom, Nurse, and Combat Veteran. All that to say, I do extremely well under stressful and trying circumstances!

Whether you are becoming a parent for the first time, or giving birth to a new baby, I’m thrilled to assist you (and your partner) as you journey through one of the most rewarding experiences of your life!

Welcome to Blest Doula!
